Wears the skull of its deceased mother. Its cries echo inside the skull and come out as a sad melody. Cubone pines for the mother it will never see again. Seeing a likeness of its mother in the full moon, it cries. The stains on the skull the Pokémon wears are made by the tears it sheds.

Marowak is the evolved form of a Cubone that has overcome its sadness at the loss of its mother and grown tough. His tempered and hardened spirit is not easily broken.
Ice / Ghost
Marowak comes to terms with his mother’s death. He decides to start a family. After a failed hunt in the mountains of Noldriea, he returns to see an avalanche that killed his family. He tries to dig his family out for forty days and nights, losing his arm in the process. Starving and alone, he finally finds their bones. The spirit of the child continues to haunt him, whether real or psychologically. Using his significant other’s femur and his child’s skull, he fashions a staff to help him continue living on, both physically and spiritually, to bear the harsh winters by himself. He uses the ribs of his lover to form a bone-like cloak over his left arm.
